Drawings in Dust

  • The Orchard: Early March
This series of drawings comes from my love of black and white and its documentary austerity. The recognizable content is the garden and the land, the emotional feeling is atmospheric and photographic: images waited for and honed, sought on long walks through real time and memory. I use the camera as an aid to focusing my mind, but the images here are done after the photographs are thrown in a drawer, and emerge from a process of improvisation. WELCOME TO ISKRA FINE ART

I invite you to enter a portfolio of my recent fine art encompassing drawing, painting and figure study.  Currently I am working in charcoal, but other ongoing series utilize watercolor, powdered pigment and printing ink in novel and unexpected ways.  You will find portfolios of recent artwork available for exhibition or purchase in the "Photo Albums" on the left.  Most of the work on this site may be purchased directly from me, either as originals or in some cases as an archival print. Please call or email me for details.  Phone: 206.367.2643  Email: iskra at iskradesign.com.   This site is new and will be changing a great deal in the next few weeks as I add new work.  All images © Iskra Johnson 2007.
