iskrafineart.typepad.com > The Street: Wayfinding Continued

We live in an environment of signs and symbols most of us take for granted and no longer consciously see, although we routinely obey instructions. This series grew out of a visual journal focused on the theme of wayfinding, and my favorite symbol of the street, The Walking Man. I am interested in how we inhabit symbols, and how they inhabit us. The street is full of signifiers, intentional and found. All of these images are created from photographs I have taken, composed in Photoshop and realized in final form as transfer prints. The transfer process is unpredictable and each print is different. Many of these images have been printed multiple times as a variant edition. The papers range from Lustro dull cover to Somerset and Fabriano Artistico. See more about transfer prints at the "What is a Transfer Print?" page in the sidebar.
